Cave courses

From cavern diving in the daylight zone through Cave Diver in twinset or sidemount to CCR Cave. Every course can be booked on its own; the certifications you need are listed with each course.

All prices include learning materials and the certification fee; gases are not included. Course durations assume 1–2 dives per day. Courses in German or English.

Caverndaylight zone

Cavern Diver

Your first step under a ceiling: diving the entrance zone of caves, always with daylight in sight and along fixed guidelines. Prerequisite: Advanced Open Water Diver, age 15+

Laying and removing a guideline, frog kick, moving as a team along the line in good and poor visibility, gas sharing on the line, lost line, lost light and lost buddy drills, and a mask swap on the line. Theory: cave basics, planning, equipment, emergency procedures and the rule of quarters.

Listed IDF certifications or equivalent certifications from other agencies

  • Minimum age 15
  • IDF Advanced Open Water Diver
  • Twinset: IDF Twinset Diver; sidemount: IDF Side Mount Diver
  • With a single cylinder no additional certification is needed

The number of dives is the minimum under the IDF standard. Depending on your progress, additional dives may be needed; their price is agreed individually.

Certification No-decompression cavern dives in a buddy team, in caves with a fixed guideline, within the daylight zone and without restrictions. Gas planned by the rule of quarters.

Equipment Two masks, a primary light and one backup light, a safety spool with at least 50 m of line, a primary reel (one per team), two cutting tools, one cookie and two arrows.

Cavebeyond the daylight zone

Cave Diver

Cave diving in twinset or sidemount, without deco and along fixed guidelines, with gas planning by the rule of thirds. Prerequisite: Master Fundamentals, 100 dives, Twinset or Side Mount

Certification No-decompression cave dives in a buddy team, up to 200 m from the entrance, along permanent guidelines and without restrictions. Gas planned by the rule of thirds.

Equipment Two masks, three cutting tools, a primary light and two backup lights, a safety spool with at least 50 m of line, a primary reel, one cookie and two arrows. Helmet recommended.

CCRCave

CCR Cave Diver

Cave diving on your own rebreather: bailout planning, bailout stages on the line and emergency procedures specific to the CCR. Prerequisite: CCR Nitrox 40m on your unit, 50 h on it

Bailout planning by at least the rule of thirds, setting the turn point on the CCR, staging bailout cylinders on the line, feeding off-board gas, SCR drill without PO₂ readings and sharing one rebreather within the team.

CCR Cave is not tied to a specific unit; you dive your own rebreather.

Listed IDF certifications or equivalent certifications from other agencies

  • Minimum age 18
  • IDF CCR Nitrox 40m Diver on the rebreather used in the course
  • at least 50 logged open water dives, including 50 hours on that rebreather
  • Crossover for open circuit cave divers: IDF Cave Diver; without a cave certification you take the full course
  • Sidemount: IDF Side Mount Diver

Certification Planning and diving CCR dives in caves. Open circuit gas planning by the rule of sixths, CCR bailout by at least the rule of thirds.

Equipment Two masks, bailout by configuration (e.g. sidemount CCR: 1 sidemount plus 1 stage; backmount CCR: 2 stages) with off-board connection, two sources of bottom diluent, an independent backup computer for CCR and open circuit, two cutting tools, primary reel, spool, jump spool, three independent lights, four markers.
